Phi Sigma Tau
Students in the chapter have access to Theta Alpha Kappa’s vigorous national program of scholarship awards and fellowship competitions, publication within the society’s journal, and an annual prize for excellent scholar papers. Members are selected via a lengthy and intense course of, and Skull and Circle membership is the highest honor the College can bestow upon college students. The National Honor Society is an organization devoted to recognizing and encouraging excellent highschool students in grades 10-12. Founded in 1921 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, it was the primary nationwide honor society and now has chapters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and plenty of different US territories. The National Honor Society estimates that right now, multiple million students participate of their activities. St. John’s University has been a member ofTheta Alpha Kappa, the national honor society for non secular studies and theology, since its inception in 1976.
Freshmen are invited to hitch if their cumulative grade point average on the finish of their freshman yr is 3.5 or higher. Membership is recognition of non-public accomplishment and serves as an incentive for continued excessive scholarship.
